After Ricardo it was Alexander Mehler's turn.

Then had Burckhardt Rieger his talk (He is the person who invited the founding members of the now existing international Computational Semiotics Group 1998 to the NIST-conference at Gaithersburg, whre they met each other the first time...)

The left person encircled is Gennady Uzilevsky

Rodney in action...

rod2

Rodney was in his talk flying through the recent history of Computational and Organisational Semiotics.

Inger Lytje after her talk listening to Solomon Marcus.

lütje2

Inger Lytje walking with Ricardo to a restaurant (Saturday searching a restaurant for lunch in Germany is not so simple....)

marcus2

Solomon Marcus giving his talk. He uses still handwritten transparencies. He is one of the 'great old men' in Semiotics.

Always a grand Seigneure and not without humor.

uzi1

Gennady Uzilevsky during discussion.

uzi2

Gennady projected texts, distributed transparencies and talked at the same time. It was difficult to keep track...

This was the end of section C (Computer and Semiotics, saturday evening). The next morning I visited with Ricardo and Edda the Section A (Art, Body, and the Digital Media) which continued that morning.

problem1

A problem starts and drives people into 'strange behavior': Guido at the machine, left is Rejane Cantoni standing, right Diana Dominguez who wants to present, behind (yellow) Edda, right at the border Lucia Santaella.

problem2

After about 20 minutes the team comes closer: from left: Guido, Rejane, NN, Lucia, Diana, and in the Background Winfried Nöth too. .

problem3

A very strange problem....

problem4

...Guido hears some voice over the air telling a solution...

can+luc

Rejane Cantoni and Lucia Santaella after the problem has been solved.

dom1

Diana Dominguez seems not yet really to trust the PC: Whether the PC will really do what I want him to do?

dom1

Diana Dominguez ist showing a Video presentation of a sophisticated Multimedia Art Project.

can+luc2

Rejane Cantoni before her presentation with Lucia Santaella.

can

Rejane Cantoni during her talk, using only a sheet of paper...

win1

Winfried Nöth introducing Lucia Santaella. In the light of her 'doings' is Lucia one of (or even 'the') most important living Semiotician today. She has e.g. tutored more than 120 Diploma and PhD students.
